I once accidentally swallowed a fly. My partner wouldn’t kiss me for a week. I learned never again to make the mistake of having an accident.
I also learned that people are often intrinsically and unapologetically stupid. Reason, logic, common sense, any sense, proof and evidence are not enough. My fly ingesting lifestyle wasn’t going to infect my partner. And god does not exist. If you think of stupidity as a disease - like say dementia - you don’t feel so bad about the state of some people.
Some with dementia can (despite evidence to the contrary) believe they are back in the 50s, that the nurse is their long lost daughter and that friends was a funny show.
And some people believe in Scientology.
Read this with a stiff shot of rum in one hand and a needle full of Valium in the other and you should sleep fine while the world slowly disintegrates around you. “People are stupid - people and stupid - repeat”

Morality does not equate to ethics
I heard it well put today that morality is the “language” to the conversation of ethics.
Morality is, like language, a set of known rules which help to answer ethical questions.
Moralities, like Christian morality, liberal, conservative, muslim morality etc are defined guidelines which guide the ethical choices
e.g. Ought I to kill?
In war: Christian, Muslim and Hindu morality might provide rules which permit the answer of yes to the dilemma posed
In utero: liberal, feminist
In self defense: Christian etc
In revenge: Old Testament Christian
It’s not a perfect definition, for instance ethics are also defined as rules which are meant to guide a person through a system without too much thought
But to me this latter idea of ethics is really just a concluded conversation, or if you like, a conversation which has been conducted in a society (based for instance on its moral code) and has been tested so often ad accepted so often as to align almost innately with those morals, as to seem unrelated to them.
